The
North Shore Nursery School building was designed
in 1984
specifically to meet the needs of young children.
The child-friendly
design enables children to quickly master
their surroundings allowing
them to build their confidence and self-esteem. |

Our
classrooms are spacious and light filled.
There is plenty of room for multiple
activity tables, water play, as well
as a carpeted area for dramatic play,
unit block building, and a library corner.
Both classrooms feature child-sized
sinks for easy and independent clean
up. Small den-like nooks are a great
favorite for use in dramatic play or
as an ideal place to cozy up with a
book. Each classroom connects to a children’s
bathroom with toilets and sinks sized
just for them.

in the classroom, visit the Curriculum
page. |

Our
music and movement room – “the
Big Room” is a bright, colorfully
carpeted space used for a variety of
activities. The school offers regular
enrichment sessions with music and movement
experts, and the children can dance,
sing, and play instruments in a comfortable
setting. The Big Room also offers the
children another active play space.
Balls, large foam building blocks, indoor
pedal vehicles, and a large climbing
structure are frequently in use when
the weather is too harsh for extended
outdoor play. |

The
indoor sandbox is unique to North Shore
Nursery School. Located in a greenhouse
attached to both classrooms, the room-size
sandbox offers the children lots of
opportunity for sensory exploration,
creativity and dramatic play. Large
enough to accommodate many children,
the sandbox appeals to all age levels.
At any given time there are multiple
activities taking place, whether road
construction, castle building, sandbox
soup stirring, or cupcake making.
